The Heart of Ohio Tailwinds Bike Club offers four weekly rides. Helmets are mandatory, and riders must have signed a liability release. Children must be accompanied by an adult. We'd love to have you along!
Tuesday Night Beginner's Ride
This ride goes from June until Labor Day. Meet at 5:50 at Rocky's Cyclery for a 6 p.m. departure. We'll pick a distance and destination depending on the ability of the riders, and we promise lots of friendly encouragement and guidance.
Wednesday Night Classic Ride
Join us for an excursion to a nearby town. April rides may go 25 miles at 12 mph, while late summer rides may go 40 miles at 15 mph or faster. Riders meet at Rocky's at 5:50 p.m. for a 6 p.m. start, and stop for a snack. (This ride goes from April to October).
Saturday Adventure Ride
A medium paced ride, starting before the heat of the day. Rides start as soon as the weather is nice in the spring. Early rides are about 25 or 30 miles, while later rides may go 50 miles or more. Riders meet at McKinley Park by the playground at 8 a.m. on Saturdays. McKinley Park is located by Marion General Hospital. We may sometimes have a special destination, perhaps car-pooling to a special cycling locale. (Mid-April to September).
Sunday Joy Rides
A "Show & Go" ride. Riders meet at 12:45 p.m. at McKinley Park by the playground and pick a destination. This ride goes most Sundays, year-round. Speed and distance depend on who shows up. Past rides have gone to covered bridges, eagle's nests, wildlife areas, and antique stores. McKinley Park is located by Marion General Hospital. |
