The 50-50 raffle for the trail generated $96 for the winner, Pat Schneider, and $96 for the trail. Pat then generously donated her winnings to the trail, making a total of $192 for the trail. Recreational Trail Update! (7/8/2010) The Marion County Park District now owns a 12 mile abandoned rail corridor west of Marion. A trailhead building and a 20 car parking lot are in place. We have a $100,000 grant from ODNR to begin construction of the first phase, and have raised the $33,333 local match for this grant. We will do as much as we can with this $133,333, but much of the money will go to preparing two bridges on the trail. The first mile has been surveyed, the engineers have done their designing, and the project is out for bids. We hope to finish construction of the first short section by October.
